What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational Therapy is a profession that focuses on promoting independence and providing a better quality of life to individuals with physical needs, mental health needs, cognitive needs or those with disabilities and special needs. Occupational Therapist look at the individual as a whole, taking into consideration their environment, their daily occupations and them as an individual to help them attend to their daily activities whether it is those they need to do daily such as dressing and washing or those that they enjoy doing. Occupational Therapist can work in a range of settings such as hospitals, schools, communities, local authorities, prisons, homes for old people, rehab clinics and so on.
Paediatric Occupational Therapist work with children in schools, hospitals, at home and within their daily environments to provide intervention advice and strategies both directly and indirectly to aid with the development of a broad range of skills.
